![]() ![]() Another approach would be to start writing an outline and assigning each main heading as a subject of a box. Then the box is closed and the writer can pick up right where he left off. One way to begin is with an introduction and when an idea is thought of, a separate box is created with a title and a short sentence or notes about the idea. When we first started with Storyspace, we followed two different paths. Nested boxes, as you may have guessed, are used for ideas contained within ideas.Ä«oxes are just a way to sort subjects within your topic. If you have boxes nested inside a box, double click on the lower portion of the box and a new window will appear with your nested boxes right in front of you. ![]() The bottom portion is to place other boxes in if you have any others you want to nest inside. To get to the text, double click on the title bar and a window will appear with your text in it or an empty window will appear to create text. The top portion of the box, the title bar, is the actual text part of the box. Once this is done a box can be created anywhere on the screen and titled. To make these boxes go up to the toolbox in the upper left-hand corner and click on the box icon. ![]() The first thing to note about Storyspace is the ability to create boxes. It allows the freedom to create a document in any form and style that the author desires. You will learn real quick not to compare your work with others because everyone else's will be different. Which ever way that helps you the most is the way you should organize Storyspace. There is no right or wrong way to organize your ideas. One main point of Storyspace is that it is a program that is very flexible. Conventional documents must be written in a single sequence, yet hypertext documents offer a range of choices a reader may follow other than the traditional path that the writer chooses. It separates ideas into easily manageable boxes that can be linked together to follow one or multiple paths through the work.
